Hidden deep within a narrow valley with a diameter of about 2km, surrounded by majestic mountains, My Son Sanctuary (located in Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) is one of the main temple centers of Buddhism and Hinduism of the ancient Champa Kingdom.
In 1999, this relic site was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its unique historical and architectural values. My Son served as the kingdom’s largest religious center continuously from the 4th to the 14th century.
Each Champa king dynasty, after ascending the throne, continued to repair and build new tower clusters using fired brick to affirm their power and devotion to the gods. The complex is divided into many tower clusters (labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H), each with a main tower (Kalan) dedicated to Linga-Yoni and surrounding subsidiary towers.
